Samtskhe-Javakheti DMO

Samtskhe-Javakheti, one of the most important historical and ethnographic regions of Georgia, is located at an altitude of 1,000 to 2,100 meters above sea level. Due to its location, it is rich with natural conditions and a distinctive diversity of microclimate districts, an abundance of rivers and lakes, and rich vegetation and animal life.

Samtskhe-Javakheti is one of the most ethnically diverse regions of Georgia, where inhabitants representing different nationalities, religions, traditions, and ethnographic culture live side by side.

Meskheti is located in the territory of the western and central parts of the South Georgia Plateau. It includes the Akhaltsikhe, Adigeni, Aspindza, Akhalkalaki and Ninotsminda districts, and the historic Tori-Borjomi region, which is considered to be the part of Samtskhe-Javakheti (Southern Georgia) as well. Thus, the province of Southern Georgia is comprised of 6 regions.
