Still on the Bruce. Comfortable sealed shoulder much more available than yesterday. There are only a couple of short sections where it is a problem.
Although our destination for this day was Swansea we decided not to try and ride the whole way. The weather report was telling us of a 20 knot northerly in the morning turning to a 40 knot southerly in the afternoon. Fat...
At least this day was short and the weather was improving. The destination was also stunning although the road into Coles Bay from the highway was a little dull. At least this road had a shoulder and we rode without too ...

We started out early and rode to Scottsdale where the NE rail trail begins. We had a coffee and then started off on the trail. It runs flat for a while on a varied surface and then after a few kilometres it starts its st...
Knowing that we didn't have time (or energy) to ride from Launceston to our first destination we caught a bus to Nunamara. (Pronounced New namara). We took to the back roads to avoid the traffic and had a very pleasant r...
Today's ride was a lot better! Still stuffed but managed to cover 57 kms.. I'll get there. The plan is to go down to Townsville and get the bike serviced (wich includes, yes, an oil change, and it is a bicycle with peddl...
A full day on the Bruce. Mostly ok but there are a few places where the Sealed shoulder is a little less than adequate. All you can do is seize the lane and make them move into the other lane to pass. It takes a bit of n...
Well "best laid Plans etc" Had breakfast in a nice spot and started talking to a couple of road cyclists who convinced me that my best option was to follow the Richmond river valley down stream. They also said that my pr...
Well the GPS is holding together, we'll see how it goes. If it goes bad you'll see you screen go blue because of the language. Today;s trail The Entrance up to Newcastle. It was a bit tough at times but the legs are sti...
We knew this day was going to be hard especially after a poor night's rest in the Dorset Hotel. We stopped at Weldborough for a coffee and then started the long hard climb over the pass. However the long 12 kilometer run...
Yesterdays ride. On the way to cairns I rode 82 km from Innisfail to Cairn, and I was feeling fine, just another ride. Its amazing what a couple of months off the bike will do!! On this ride Cairns to Fishery Falls, 3...
It is amazing what you can do with a good tail wind. Using the elapsed time calcs with a time of 5h 7min avg 13.8 kph Use the moving time calcc with a time of 3h 28min avg 20.3 kph I'm happy with that.
Another day with long straights and on occasions little Sealed shoulder. Not to bad thought the truckies have been behaving themselves.
Not much to say about this one. Long straight stretches reasonably flat. All good except for the 20 kph head wind that hit me for the last 2 hours.
Very Straight, very flat, plenty of trees, little Wind, less traffic, How could I not have had a great day.
Another 65 km on the Bruce. Plenty of wide sealed shoulder to ride on and a lot of road works. Duck behind the safety cones and use the dead lane, there is no traffic to deal with.
Well here I am in Queen Toadland. Tomorrow I'll head for Goldtoad or Bristoad, we'll see how I go.Todays ride was good. about 50 - 60% of it on Cycle paths or really local roads along the beaches.
In the end not a bad little ride even if the legs didn't want to get into it this morning. 100km Grafton to Casino. Started with a lot of little hills but the second half was good.
