Itinerary description
We knew this day was going to be hard especially after a poor night's rest in the Dorset Hotel. We stopped at Weldborough for a coffee and then started the long hard climb over the pass. However the long 12 kilometer run downhill was a great reward for the uphill slog. Weldborough was a very pleasant little spot. There was a series of running events happening at the time and the staff at the hotel were quite overworked. The big downhill took us to Pyengana where with a 2 kilometre detour we found a very welcoming, if not over busy, restaurant. I think I ate too much but I figured I needed plenty of fuel. Although the climbs were not much after this I think exhaustion had set in and we grumbled out way up the last 8 kilometres of uphill dirt to the only accommodation the area could offer in Gould's Country. We stayed at very neat and tidy B&B run with military precision. I didn't care much but the proprietor seemed to relish the opportunity to act as local historian and guide. We just wanted peace and quiet. 1096 metres uphill.
