    Hard road the first 20 kms until Nong Khiaw boarding the river. Very steeped climbs and very bumpy. Nice view thought. Once in the main road to Luang Prabang you have great views and a lot of little towns.

    Good paved road without trucks, cars or motorbikes. 100 km following the river, pure pleasure!!! Udomxai isn't beautifull but you can have plenty of facilities including ATM and internet access.

    Paved road with some unpaved meters from time to time which makes it a dusty road. Pak Mong has a couple of basic Guest Houses.

    The unsealed road running parallel the Mekong River is simply amazing. No accommodations found near the Mekong River, most of them are located along the major road.

    Muong Ngoi is a nice place to stay and there are plenty of Guest Houses and restaurants. From there it's possible to take a boat to Luang Prabang (6 hours).

    Hard mountain pass to cross by far, but incredible sights, nice viewpoint on the top. Pay attention on the first kms of the downhill, tarmac is not good and a bit bumpy.
