One way volcano-parking (but you can walk both ways since it is the same path) with the new path. Easy walk but be careful of the rocks!

this is the new track which leads to the 2022 eruption site in Meradalir Wear good clothes, it might be very windy on the ridge.
Be aware that going up after crossing the small river just after the geothermal area can get extremely slippery. If the soil is wet it becomes very muddy and will be difficult going up and down to Hverafjall.
This track takes you from the Suðurstrandarvegur road to the volcano eruption site in Geldingadalir. This is the west side track that should be followed if the wind is blowing from the North or North East
DISCLAIMER: I don't recommend going up through the southeast path as we did. The terrain was very loose and the path was not clear in some places due to some landslides. In my opinion following the main path is better.
