Beautiful hike from the Joyita camping ground and above trophy cañon. Almost all establishedtrails. No bushwacking. Lots of flowers in September. A fave.

The first half is a great hike that follows the creek below the dam and there are lots of trees, birds and cacti. It will be gorgeous when the rains come. Also, likely unpassable after heavy rains.
This is an easy flat hike on the southwest of the Canada de la Virgen area. Most of the hike is a loop on a large plato between two arms of the canyon. Near the end the trail dips into the canyon and winds up the opposit...
Family Hike: Presa de Begoña. Use GPS to arrive to this small community and park. This is a loop with a few spurs to see better views. You may encounter sheep, cows/bulls, horses, donkeys, dogs and more. This is not a lo...

OK hike. Not special. Steep climb at beginning. Walk around slot valley pretty rocky, until great views east on Picachos. A bit of a scramble down. Good for cool days because very exposed and no shade.
Great hike. Fairly long and steep at the end. Mostly on open grounds and some woods over 8000ft. No bushwacking. Great views from top. May be the highest point in the Picachos.
Start upper Boca, climb up at magic pons. Go tocanyon rim. Down to arroya. Backu up by bald spot trail. Several beautiful ponds, A bit long and arduous.
This hike starts near San Miguel off of the road to Alcocer. The trail we follow is actually the Old Picachus Road to the top of the extinct Los Picachus volcano. You have to cross a few fences on the way but otherwise i...
Some prolonged climb, one steep down and back up a ravine.
2.2 mile hike with plenty of places to stop along the way. While not long, it is entirely uphill for a mile, sometimes steep. But the reward of entering the area with caves makes it all worth it! Follow GPS to the start...
Cascada de Santa Rosa. Great. Shaded. Going not so ni e but gets to top of cascada. Can get down but would not be possible climbing. The return along the arroyo is easy. Drive to included in return
Nice hike a the bottom of a canyon with some water. Some difficult bouldering. Climbing out scrambling up on rocks but not dangerous.
Montecillo de Nieto - Escondido (Codornices)- classified as easy but there are a few places where one must be careful with a few ups and downs along the river.
Long but not hard. Beautiful especially when there is water. Springs, bridge oldhacienda. Some bushwacking and mud along the river.
Good climb at start. Then lovely canyon with arroyo. The lindero (limit marker) of the ejido has a beautiful pool and enormous tree. Watch for poison ivy. Great return along the arroyo.
Nice but not much features until the dam. The last part along the river would make a good easy round trip. Pretty church and ex hacienda at the village.
Nice first part in the canyon. Great view of the pyramid. But return on nasty road. Better use variation 1.
We parked at the electric power distributor kinda thing on el padoramica. Walked on the dirt track up and we went up around the Cerro de la Bufa and came back to the car by the track between the 2 big rock formations. ...
Fairly easy hike with about 800 ft altitude gain on a rough road. Nice views from the high point and a god selection of local cactus.
Nice and shaded pretty much all the way. Steep climb at first, better done early. Down all the way back. On hot weather bring bathing suit and towel for a dip in the Presa. Missed the Hacienda ruins by one cañada.
Nice but not great. Long steep climb at first. Then down to a Presa at bottom of bowl canyon. And bk dwn loose atv Rocky path. Could cross at the Presa and go up and down the other side down the same atv rocky path.
Darned nice hike that starts out slow but once you get towards the top, the views begin unfolding. Walking on the ridge is like a stroll through a green wonderland. Lots of tiny wildflowers this time of the year.
Beautiful, varied. Done w Jesus y Teofilio. Up to fort ruins (small) to stands of big oaks. To another fort ruins (revolución). Down other side of canyon w beautiful views towards San Martín Terreros
Difficult because of very Rocky trail. The last part with cascade (dry) cave and scramble down is fun.
A great hint to help you choose your outdoor gear and clothing!
