From Talybont-on-Usk, southwards, initially on the route of the old Brinore tramroad, and then on the route of the former Brecon-Dowlais railway. The turn round point is above the southern end of the Talybont Reservoir.
Taff Trail to start the ride, then forestry trail, passing the Brecon Steam Train at Torpantau, then open moorland accross the Ridge to rejoin the Tramroad, . Then down to the Reservoir before winding down to Talybont.
A good race on a good day when I’m feeling good too. Really good route, a couple of long flat bits but with enough hilly trails to fill the gaps.
Along tramroad from YHA hostel to vantage point looking back down Tallybont reservior then back along Taff trail to hostel.

Part 2 of the Brecon and Monmouth canal towpath. A gentle and beautiful ride, at times high above the river Usk. Fish and chips or the pub in Gilwern for half way refreshments.
Hostel to end reservoir and back. Path along shore bit overgrown so best do this when dry but mainly fern grasses so you can brush through. Some nice stopping points by water for a picnic ana hide.

Easy trail from the village of Talybont. Varied with a bit of forest, bit of hill and bit of canal. Very enjoyable.
