    麥理浩徑第三段的起點在北潭凹，沿路旁石級登山，一直攀升至牛耳石山。 之後路徑較為平坦而行，繞行岩頭山至嶂上，再登上畫眉山。後下降至十字路口，即榕北走廊，又上走至雷打石山腰。由此便要下走深谷，後急上陡峭艱辛的山徑至雞公山。 登上雞公山，眼下是企嶺下海的泥灘海岸，不遠處聳立著馬鞍山。沿山徑下走，轉入林蔭山徑，至水浪窩完成麥理浩徑第三段，再沿西沙路、到達烏溪沙鐵路站
