Moderate trail, easy to navigate.Prepare to get your feet wet through the creek crossings but all worth it for the swim at the end

Went somewhat rogue on the walk in (accidental bush bashing fun) so don't particularly recommend following this until on ridgeline, sweet from there.
Scrambling experience needed to complete logans ridge. Navigation skills needed to descent North ridge. Perfect combination.
This is a a difficult trail and a long day of around 12hrs. Need to be able to handle basic climbs and steep rock scrambling, and then rock hopping and navigating through slippery creek beds. Do not go down the Gorge if ...

Very exposed on both sides narrow ridge climb. If you are comfortable with heights and climbing, don't attempt this. And wear your brown hiking pants 🤣
Up North Ridge to Mt Barney East Peak and down South East Ridge. We started at Yellowpinch and up the Logans Ridge track to a small cairn at ~550m elevation. We then bushbashed to the right around the side of the hill, ...
Nice full day hike. There are two sections that you may need help if you are not good with climbing ( like myself ) But the rest the same like the other mountains ( maroon , flinders peak ....etc) if it is your first tim...
The ridge next on the right of SE ridge. Approach this by crossing the dry creek right from nearby junction of new and old SE tracks. Once on the ridge is an hour or so of easy walk until you hit the rock. Scramble for a...
Much more fun than the other route of Ernest….but also a longer day, got quite hot after the summit so best not to do it when expecting temps > 28* C!!! Gaiters and a pile or 2 are helpful!!!
Fire trail walk/run with small trail detour up to Yellow Pinch look out. Fire trail to Cronan creek waterfall is an easy trail with a few creek crossings. Can't avoid the water if it has rained a bit so you will get wet...
As August 2021, the upper half of Rocky creek is chocked with debris and vines, making descent extremely slow and precarious. The bottom half is still good.
Easy walk along Cronan Creek to the falls. Starting at Yellow Pinch car park and follow the road right through. Do not take any of the summit turn offs on the right. Climbed the short sharp ascent to Yellow Pinch on the ...
Thank you. This was very helpful.
Mt Barney, sumit East peak, route was logans up and down with minor variations. Not for the inexperienced, some climbing and good scrambling skills required. Such beautiful views with good scrambling terrain.
Very interesting less used track up Barney that branches to south east track 200metres in elevation before the summit. A harder version of Logan’s with a tough middle section
Easy walk along the fire trail. A few creek crossings had a bit of water due to recent rains so socks and shoes were nice n soggy! At the end, there's a sign on the left to head to the falls. We missed it at first as we ...
Up North Central ridge and down along the summit ridge to the east then coming down a steep, scree-filled slope to re-join Cronan creek firetrail. This was a really enjoyable day. About 3hr 15 min from start to summit (...
Up Logans Ridge and down Barney Gorge to Lower Portals. We dropped some cars at Lower Portals carpark then drove to Yellowpinch car park to start. From Yellowpinch - walk back towards Mt Barney Lodge on the road over t...
Absolutely beautiful! Hard on the knees and a little slippy in places. Very windy and cold, so take extra gear!
The little rocky ridge directly south of Logan's Ridge. Very scrubby, slow and long approach. Entirely off-track on hard terrain. Descended via Logan's on a very warm day.
Activity: 2022-04-03 A memorable day hike with my Dad for some of the most impressive views in the Scenic Rim Region. See my Mount Barney East Peak review for details about the trail, my experiences and a few photo...
Up SE Ridge and down South (peasants) Ridge Hard hike The most common first Barney walk. Start and finish at Yellowpinch. Requires experience with long hikes and lots of elevation gain, with some scrambling and occas...
Began with a car shuffle to leave cars at Lower Portals carpark and then drive to Yellowpinch car park. Started at Yellowpinch. Up Logans Ridge to East Peak summit. Down to Rum Jungle and then down the Barney Gorge to ...
South East Ridge, down to the Old Hut site, Down Barney creek gorge to Lower Portals. If you checkout my other track up and down this way, most of the info is the same, the difference between this and the other is, we di...
Start & end at Yellowpinch A really enjoyable walk - varying bush - some lovely scrambles. Ridgeline traverse has fantastic views to the north towards Barney and to the south towards Mt Lindsay. This is a must do. The ...
