This is fairly straightforward route except for a large set of bolders in the middle of the ridge which can be difficult to navigate around depending on conditions. The preferred route is to go straight up and over which...

First trip up the volcano, and it was snow from the parking lot on. First two miles are relatively flat compared to what follows. Last two miles gain nearly 2000' of elevation each! Snowshoeing doesn't get a whole lot mo...

Snowshoed in from exit 42 off I-90 directly up to the Ira Spring trail. Stayed on it for less than a 1/4 mile and took the old Mason Lk trail up. It's surprising more people don't do this trip. There is low avalanche ...

I've done this route in the summer but with the right conditions it is much easier in the winter with snowshoes/crampons. The route begins on the Annette Lake trail and then turns west on the Iron Horse trail. At the wes...

Snowshoeing this loop meant free wandering off-trail through an area normally restricted to on-trail travel only. One of the most spectacular routes in the monument.

Excellent ridgeline to practice with some new snowshoes. Unfortunately, this day we wandered into a whiteout.

A great snowshoe loop. This loop requires some mountaineering experiences, as there are cornices and a risk of avalanches, furthermore navigation would be difficult with poor visibility.

This route requires good navigation skills since you can run into cliffs or very steep slopes that are difficult to traverse. The loop can be done in either direction but is probably easier going clockwise.

The route leaves from the exit 42 offramp on I-90 and avoids avalanche prone areas. It is ideal for snowshoeing most of the winter though in certain conditions the route can have some hard ice so it's advisable to take a...

This requires the right snow conditions since the south facing slope of Mt Pratt can be very prone to avalanches, If in doubt take the safer east ridge up from Olallie Lake which is the more common route.
