Well worth the climb to the top. Amazing views, switch backs & a small creek. Long steady uphill climb, steep in places towards the trails end. Views at the point are spectacular.

Rampart Ridge Although there is still a bit of snow left on the trail (and in the meadows/bogs alongside the trail), it is easily avoided and not a cause for concern at all. No microspikes or poles needed.
Short hike to a dramatic fire lookout with an incredible view of Mt. Rainier and the surrounding forests. By the end of summer, there are plenty of plump huckleberries along the way.
Moderate trail, no snow, easy to follow, a lot of shade, beautiful forest with huge trees and overlook to Mt. Rainier. Easier to hike counter-clockwise. Few people on a Thursday. Mosquitos.
