A beautiful trail with great views of Mt Rainier and beyond. The reward is the pure and not too cold waters of Mason Lake.

This is an interesting route which is most easily done in the spring when there is sufficient consolidated snow to be on top of the rough terrain. One can often drive to the trailhead this time of year though I find it i...

Snowshoed in from exit 42 off I-90 directly up to the Ira Spring trail. Stayed on it for less than a 1/4 mile and took the old Mason Lk trail up. It's surprising more people don't do this trip. There is low avalanche ...

Hike up the old trail along a raging creek and deep green forest akin to the Pacific NW. It's too bad that gov't agencies restrict these, and build new ones far less scenic with many more wide (nature-damaging) switchbac...
This route looks pretty straight-forward and not that difficult but plan on taking an hour or two longer than you think it might take since it's very slow going.
Long day and difficult traverse from N Web to Web. Cornice helped a lot to be able to get around rough sections on the knife edged ridge that had dense brush.
This requires the right snow conditions since the south facing slope of Mt Pratt can be very prone to avalanches, If in doubt take the safer east ridge up from Olallie Lake which is the more common route.
One of my fav local hikes. This one rises 3800 feet from exit 42 in 3 miles. The last 1400 feet is gained in 1/2 mile.
