Part of the walk can be simplified by not dropping down to Slate Hill House where the seat is. Walk along the edge of the moor till you reach Jack Sledge Road.
Moorlands walk on a bright, freezing winters day. Ground underfoot frozen which made for easy walking. If you follow this route, avoid my detours coming out of Danby and also in Common Dale
Great views of the moors, however a bit too much road walking for me. Mainly large tracts from Botton to Castleton. Have fun finding a path off the Moor into Botton.
Great ride round head of Glaisedale, excellent track. Good view down the dale. Also track leading down into Glaisedale. Failed to find pub or cafe- should have gone further down. 2 1/4 blobs.

Danby south up nose onto Danby Rigg. Drop east into Danby Dale and north to Castleton. A pint in Downe Arms then bridleway to Danby.
