The long way. You can drive half the way there instead of walking but it's an easy walk along the car trail.
Day 5 of our Iceland tour. Mostly on road except for the beginning. In the end make sure to take the detour road before the tunnel. It is much more beautiful and the tunnel is to be paid for.
