GPS went crazy by the cliffs and cave. This is a tough hike and wouldn’t like to do it in inclement weather.

Mt Maroon via caves and both peaks. Difficult - no trail bush bashing on the way up , few sections where confidence on steep rock a must.
Caves route of mount maroon, scenic rim. Easy to follow the maps, lots of bush bashing and leaf litter which makes it slippery at times but a relatively easy climb. Not very technical but have to be comfortable with slip...
Mt Maroon Caves Crazy Night Hike 5.5.2019 Start 3.45pm Finish 7.35pm See my other Mt Maroon Caves trails for more notes on this track. Got caught in the darkness on this one as we made a wrong turn instead of coming a...

Off trail hike to the Mt Maroon caves and summit. Must be well prepared and have a map, as lots of scrambling, and had to backtrack a few times.
Take a look at the caves if you like but don’t bother with the rest of it, we tried scrambling and exploring different way up maroon but got to too many sheer cliffs and got over it and went home
A 3 to 4 hour return trip offering spectacular 360 degree views at the summit. The majority of the route is a steady uphill ascent, however there is one section which is a steep scramble (no climbing skills required)and ...
Great hike. Intense climb, but short. Ascend open grassy area, to begin steep climb up rocky outcropping to drop back down to first lookout bluff looking north. Climb back up south to clearing and the start of incredible...
Straightforward up and down route. Follow basic track and arrows as needed. See description in my other Cotswold Track route for more details. Enjoy!
Mt Maroon Caves This has to be a new favourite of mine! There is barely a trail for most of this. You’ll cross a creek and then there’s a fair bit of bush bashing and rock hopping up loose rocks and over logs. You’ll eve...
Drop a car (or bike!) off at Yellowpinch and head over to Cotswald Rd to take the tourist route up Maroon. Descend via slabby creek to the SW to Paddy's plain campsite. Cross-country to Lower Portals, then follow Barney ...
Our first proper bushwhack, hardcore but amazingly stunning hike to the summit of Maroon via the awesome sandstone caves on the northern side. Great day out with two close friends.
Classic Cotswold Track, up and down. For more details follow my other Cotswold tracks with more details.
Scramble to the top of Nympho Butress then abseil down through the cave. You will need abseiling gear for the cave, alternatively could just scramble back down.
Went up for sunrise.. summit was a white out. Super cold, windy and foggy. Terrain at the start loose and rocky. Steep incline. Trail markers present and some navigation needed.
If you only download this trail as your guide you are an idiot and should not be in the bush. Do some proper research. Also I don't give permission for any rockclimbers, meetup (eg Happy Hikers, Hiking SEQ), Facebook gr...
Got lost on the way down. Very easy to stray off path. Might need navigation as markers are few and far apart in some locations. Need to be in good health and physical condition to go up as it is pretty strenuous and may...
Mount Maroon is a hard climb but the views are fantastic. Mount May is brutal. Lots of loose rock and dangerous coming down.
Hiking trail from car park to rock climbing crags: Virgin Window Buttress (Jezebel) and Egg Rock (Ruby of India start).
Ok so you want to do the cave and then go up to the summit, but the west ridge is a bit far, and you don't want to back track to near the beginning of the track. Well, there is a 3rd alternative. Heading east and then go...
6 hrs total including lunch. Had to backtrack a few times to find the trail. Lots of bush bashing. Great views!
After the cave make sure you pick up the trail that’s takes you down. If you try to walk along the rock face like me you’ll run out of room fast unless you have a rope!
Doesn’t take this long.....I forgot to pause my wikiloc at the top and we were up there for at least 40mins enjoying the view.
Follow the path we went down not up. Stay on main tourist track until you see man made rock structures to your right, approximately 300m in with a fence line on your left.
