Dry season only. Unsealed for 50 km from Muang Nan to KuangSi Waterfall. Crosses many small streams with no bridges. Nice views, no traffic.
A long hot dusty road when I did it in March, it was very hazy too so not such a great experience but it might be better at otherbtimes
A nice day trip from Luang Prabang. Ascend about 350 m/9 km to Xieng Muak, continue along ridge top with good mountain views to Hmong village of Long Lao. It's possible to trek from there down to Kuang Sri Waterfall.
easy from LPB, medium/hard way back. need to park bike and get a boat to go there. Good swimming, worth a visit!
