This is one of the key stages of the trip. We changed from the humidities of Uttarankhand to the alpine desert of Himachal Pradesh. It is something that could be intuited but that today is clearly expressed. We leave the southern slopes of the Himalayas to enter the high desert. Infinite dusty roads above 4000m. The height is noticeable, you can not think clearly and it is very hot.
Again today I fall down, this time in front of a truck. The bike is badly damaged, we just arrived at our destination. My partner takes my bike and I his. When we arrive at Akpal it looks like an oasis, a thread of hope on another hard motorcycle day.
They occur at certain altitudes in the Himalayas, especially in this region, visual phenomena when riding a motorcycle. It may happen that you think you are going up a port for hours to realize afterwards that you are going down, or to believe that the river current rises, instead of going down. Height, heat, fatigue and travel baffle to unsuspected limits.
There is a collapse in the road. These are roads (roads) that only open a few months a year, when there is no snow in the Himalayas at this altitude.
We have to buy contraband gasoline, which is usually mixed with water, because one of the bikes does not arrive.
