From the parking at pass take the very small road below cafe heading north. It goes gentle downhill. In winter often with snow

Col d'Iratzabaleta

After ten min come to a col with hunter cabins follow sign to Escalier and gr10 veering right and zig zagging uphill

Pic des Escaliers

It's a 20min mod climb up grassy slopes grrazed by sheep to the summit which is wide and domed and afdords superb views to lowlands and across western Pyrenees

From the summit follow the ridges west to the obvious bigger summit directly west.

From the saddle start the climb up to highest peak. It's a gentle ramble

Once at bottom of mountain go right along clear track (there's a shepherd cabin on left)

When you reach a dirt road go left where you liop around and back up to hunter cabins. I can retrace your steps back to car in ten min or by going right Ig zag down a bit then up through forest and after 20min arrive at car
