Itinerary description
We hiked from the Almageller hut up the SE ridge. Weather was splendid with sun and temperatures from 5°C in the morning (night) up to around 15°C during lunch time. A snow slope is next to the ridge which we climbed up in crampons and with ice axes. We entered the ridge at about 3300m and climbed up to ca. 3900m. The climb isn't very challenging but high drops on each side and altitude can have effect. Snow ridge and peak are a breeze to walk on, although the snow ridge is quite narrow. Descending down Trift glacier starts out rather steep but levels out before the ice fall zone. In the ice fall zone there are a few steep slopes, some crevasses and ofcorse the ice could fall.. so move quickly in those places. All in all a great hike and recommended to everyone with glacier and mountaineering experience.
