6 nights, 7 days
The Lemosho route takes the road to the west of the massif and, therefore, is further away from the rest of the circuits. Londorossi Gate, 2,100 meters high, is the gateway to the route and is located on the west flank.
The peculiarity of the Lemosho route is that it takes the adventurers along the Shira plateau (Shira Plateau) and, thus, allows a progressive acclimatization. To this great advantage, it is necessary to add that it allows the sighting of big game, for which they advise the accompaniment of armed guide. The route is one of the longest and quietest to climb the Kilimanjaro and this is something very noticeable from the beginning of the journey.
This route is not as popular as the Machame route or the Marangu route but it makes up for it with the variety of landscape: leafy forests to the west, the alpine plateau of Shira and the south face of the mountain from the Lava Tower and the Camp Ravine .
The ascent to Kilimanjaro can take up to seven days, the first days (before arriving at Shira 2 Camp) there is not much traffic, and when you join the Machame route you will find more people on the roads. The descent is usually made by the Mweka trail with a stay in the camp of the same name.
