Very nice and comfortable route around the Grasmere and Rydal Water lakes.

We left the Victorian YHA Langdale lodge by road and turned off soon to a path, which runs through meadows, ferns and moss-covered walls, the Hammerscar Plantation area.

We head to the road that borders Lake Grasmere (Red Bank Road), flanked by large mansions with beautiful gardens and meadows where cattle graze peacefully.

We arrived at the town of Grasmere, where we visited St. Oswald's Church, in English Gothic style. Next door is the Garden of the romantic poet Wordsworth.

We cross River Rothay, which feeds the Grasmere and Rydal Water lakes with its waters.

We continue the tour visiting small towns of careful and beautiful traditional architecture.

Then, we climb a beautiful low slope trail, which leads us through meadows and forests cleared towards the ends of Rydal Water.

We visit the neo-Gothic church St. Mary's or Rydal Church, from which we descend towards Rydal Water. We cross again River Rothay and comfortably skirt Rydal Water.

We continue along a hillside trail that goes away from Lake Grasmere in the direction of YHA Langdale, where we started this beautiful route.
