Caminar un rato, solo o acompañado e ir al mar, que siempre es un privilegio, es algo que puedes hacer si tomas el sendero Chucao en Puerto Marín Balmaceda. El sendero comienza a un costado de la escuela, en la Avenida Costanera y está señalizado por un letrero con su nombre a la entrada.

Dunas y Campo de frutillas
Tras salir del bosque llegarás a las dunas, que están rodeadas de frutillas silvestres.

Mirador
mirador rústico que da una vista panorámica de la costa. Lo que ves es el Golfo del Corcovado, y las islas que divisas a lo lejos son los islotes Las Tres Hermanas, donde habitan lobos marinos y cormoranes. Sigue la senda y camino de acceso hasta que puedes bajar a la playa.

Playa La Boca
Es la única orilla continental de Aysén donde se puede ver el mar abierto. Así es que camina sobre la arena y aprovecha de sentir el viento en tu cara. No es recomendable meterse al agua, porque es demasiado fría, y principalmente porque no está habilitada para el baño y no hay socorristas.

Acantilado Vivo
Al sur de la playa la boca, puedes encontrar un acantilado de arena formado por la erosión continua del río Palena, el cual orada y extrae material en las continuas crecidas y lo deposita en la barra y más al norte.

Senda orilla Estero Pitipalena
Puedes regresar por la orilla de la costa hasta una senda vehicular ubicada a la orilla del bosque. Vas a caminar teniendo a tu derecha el bosque y a tu izquierda una vista al fiordo Pitipalena, el faro y las montañas con bosque siempreverde. El fiordo es hogar de muchas aves, así es que es un lugar ideal para su observación y algunas buenas fotos. No dejes de vigilar el mar, porque cuando menos lo esperes puedes ver delfines australes, conocidos en la zona como toninas, revoloteando en la orilla, dando saltos o piruetas.

Cementerio
El cementerio del poblado es uno de los más antiguos de la zona, con tumbas de los colonos desde los primeros esfuerzos de poblamiento en esta zona. Es un buen sitio para recorrer la historia del lugar a través de nombres y fechas. El circuito termina en el sector del embarcadero, donde se encuentra el cementerio, al lado derecho del camino. Antes de dejar la senda, detente una vez más, respira profundo y siéntete privilegiado de estar en un sitio tan remoto, lejos de los grandes edificios y el bullicio de las pobladas costas. De seguro este momento valdrá la pena recordarlo por siempre.

You’ve left the stress of the city far behind and the moment couldn't be more perfect to breathe in the smell of the forest and walk along the shores of the sea, the sand on your feet, and the wind on your face. The rhythmic noise of the waves accompanies you as you make your way through this beautiful trail, full of surprises and pristine nature.

Follow the Chucao Trail to the sea in Raúl Marín
You can easily walk this trail solo, but, if you’d like the company of a guide to share information on the flora and history of the area, stop into the office of the Tourism and Commerce Association in the center of town.

Across the fjord, you’ll spot a light house and in the distance, the mountains with their evergreen forests. The fjord is home to many birds, so it is an ideal place for observation and some good photos. Continue along the vague trail to the access road and head left to the beach, which is called La Boca and is the only continental shore of Aysén where you can see the open sea. As you walk along the sand,you’ll feel the sea breezes on your face. The circuit ends in the sector of the pier, and if you are interested, there is a brief side trail that leads to the historic cementery for Raúl Marín leading off from the right side of the road. Before returning to town, stop once more to take in your surroundings, breathe deep and feel the satisfaction of being in a place so remote, far away from the large buildings and the bustle of the crowded beaches in other parts of the world. The first section of the trail crosses dense native forest located at the edge of town. Entering the forest, you’ll soon be enveloped in greens and browns; trees towering above and around, vines and bushes, ferns, tree trunks, and roots. It’s almost overwhelming, surrounding you with millions of hues, scents and textures.You will be surrounded by enormous coigües, with hanging lichens like old man’s beard (usneabarbata), lumas, canelos and hundreds of different types of ferns, among other native flora.The old man’s beard is a lichen of whitish hues that grows from the trees throughout Aysén, an indicator of air purity; the further away you are from the civilization, the more abundant and healthy it grows.
