Itinerary description

Please leave your contact detail with us and inform us about the trail you plan to hike. Proceed to Kloof Base Camp #3 where you can park your car.
Walk past the (wooden) boom and continue along the road for about 200m. You come to a T-junction, where you turn right. After about 250m you arrive at Trailhead #2. Follow the “S” (for Sunset). You walk through the old Kloofdam. The damwall collapsed in October 2017, and we are busy repairing it. You will cross a small stream. Proceed walking into higher ground following the “S”.
Continue for about 1km northwards till you come to a point where the trail veers off to the N-East.
After about 200m you arrive at a junction where Moepel continuous to the left and Sunset veers off to the right. Sunset is an advanced and quite a difficult trail.
FILL IN DETAIL ON SUNSET TRAIL
You turn sharp left and proceed into the hills surrounding the upper Bateleur wetland. After about 500m through a reasonable flat area you now enter into a kloof going up for about a km. You will find unexpected flat little valleys varying in size from a tennis courts to a rugby field and bigger on your left and right. The terrain varies from bare rockfaces to bushy kloofs, and you will enjoy views over the Bateleur upper wetland to the South.
You will cross the inner game fence again and start descending to the old Kloofdam.
After about a kilometre you will join up where the SUNSET Trail started. Keep right and after about 200 meters you will be back at the old dam. Cross the stream and you will find the Trailhead where you set off. Turn left into the service road and walk along the road to where the road splits.
Keep left and after about 100 meters you will be back at Kloof Base Camp #3.
