Short excursion to visit the beautiful Balea waterfall, from the Bàlea Cascada cabin.

To get to the Cascada Bàlea cabin we have to drive along the famous Transfagarasan highway, either heading south from Cartisoara, or heading north from Curtea de Arges.

The route begins in one of the many curves that the famous Transfagarasan road has on its descent towards Sibiu. An impressive road for its views and the spectacular nature of the route.

Shortly after starting to walk we already see the waterfall in the distance. We just have to continue along the bottom of the valley parallel to the river Bàlea. Even so, the route is perfectly indicated with a red circle on a white background. The ascent at the beginning is smooth. The terrain becomes somewhat more complicated as we climb up some stones, until we reach the base of the Balea waterfall, which is spectacular.

The Bálea Waterfall receives the waters of Lake Bàlea, at the top of the Transfagarasan Highway, the highest in Europe.
