Itinerary description

We arrived on the Transfagarasan road (we had read that most of the year, from November to June, is closed or with access problems). We stopped at the car park next to Lake Balea, which is just where the route begins.
It is ascent starts at the Balea Lake hut, the road is indicated at a junction at km 0.7. In the beginning, up to 1.4 km the slope is very steep and the final part must be done with the help of hands in a very rocky and somewhat slippery area. It is not advisable to do it with rain or snow.
When you reach the highest point, km 1.4, there are beautiful views of Lake Capra, which at that time is still partially frozen.
At km 2.7, there are also stunning views!
