Waypoints
CAUTION… Right turn (off piste)
This short section takes you off the beaten track! We turned right at the marker followed the fence line until it changed in direction and then made our way back up onto the ‘proper’ track we had previously walked past. This is a steep uphill ‘off track’ scramble following animal tracks (goat and cow trails). If you don’t like going through vegetation etc I suggest you either double back to the actual track path or forge your route following the main track you are already on.
End of fence
Once you’ve reached the change of direction in the fence line it is just a matter of aiming straight up the hill as best as possible following the least dense animal tracks until you rejoin the actual path track.
Through the stile
Through the fence at the stile. Here you have just reached the top of one valley and you start to make you way down into the next.
Dry river
You should have made your way down into the foot of the next valley, past a coral and began to walk up the opposite valley hill. At this point you cross over the ‘dry’ stream as you begin to gaining elevation again
Cup of tea with a view (shout for echo!)
Quick stop for tea. The boys found this the best spot to create the loudest, longest echo… give it a go!!
Fossil Valley
Right and slight incline up at the random bush to The Valley of the Fossils.
Fossil found
My future palaeontologist took approximately 1 minute to find a fossil. Needless to say Fossil Valley lives up to its name!
Ruins
Making your way down and into the next valley passing ruins before heading towards and passing Benamahoma to your left.
Other side of the road
Once you’ve crossed the road turn right and follow the path and line of the road up hill.
Road crossing
At the intersection cross back over the road, through the gate and back onto the original track you started on. It’s a short walk up to your original starting point and end of this hike.

I guess I should've read your writeup before doing this hike. I didn't realize that there was a significant uphill steep, sticky bushes, and bushwhacking section. Had I known about this I would have taken the trail where it comes off from the road. This is not a particularly easy hike even without the bushwhacking section, there are significant vegetation issues, and I don't recommend anybody do it this way with the bushwhacking section.
