Itinerary description

The trail starts from the village of Kosmadei and moves south/southwest for about an hour. This part crosses a forest and there is plenty of shadow. Exiting the forest, the trail reaches to the civil war monument and from there starts ascending on the mountain of Kerkis. The terrain is mainly rocky and dry but there are also green parts along the way (no shadow, however). It takes about 90 min to get to the intersection point with trail 9 to Votsalakia, where there is shadow and a chapel (I did not find water though). From there you will need about an hour to get to the peak, hiking on a steep rocky terrain. The view is amazing with all of Samos laying on the east, the island of Fourni southwest, and a part of Ikaria west.

Suggestion: if you do it during June - September, make sure to have at least 3 it of water per person.
