Itinerary description

A winter walk (or easy hike) along the waterfront areas of Kaifaqu. The route is 95% prepared trails, broad sidewalks, and some long staircases. Food and refreshments are available along the way. Highlights are; the main beach area, a kid's winter play park, the seacoast escarpment with unique artworks, views over the shipping and fishing activity, two small inland hills, and a car-free restaurant and shopping area.

Change the map view to Open City or Open Cycle Map or satellite view. The default map by Google is not property georeferenced (apparently an unresolved issue between Google and China). Also the route covers some recently re-claimed land that is still shown as part of the North China Sea on various map options.

Reclaimed land (fill) is now a grassy area and parking. This is a favorite place for fireworks at Chinese New Year, and for kite flying.
