Itinerary description
Moving time: 7h - 7,5h.
Distance (measured by GPS device): 25 kms
The trail starts next to a corner of the road, about 2 kms after the entrance of the gorge.
One has to walk about 20 to 30 mins to meet the Imbros Gorge trail, which is one of the most beautiful gorges in Crete (and really easy to cross).
There is shadow along the way and the landscape is a constant change.
We did about 2 hours to walk the (almost) 7 kms until the exit (other entrance) of the gorge.
At this point one can find locals that provide taxi service (for those of you who don't want to return either from Sfakiano gorge or follow the same way back to the starting point by foot). We walked till we reach the road, crossed the village of Komitades (there are many taverns open during summer} and then make a left turn to the road that goes to church of Panagia Thimiani. After a while we left the rural road to make a turn to the right moving southwest to Filaki beach (Filaki means small kiss in Greek). This is a quiet nudist beach with really interesting sea bottom... goggles needed! There is a shower and a small shop that provides the basics.
We stopped there for two hours and then took the way back, following the country road until we reached a cement factory. There is a bridge on the left,we crossed it and entered Sfakiano gorge. This one is larger but less interesting than Imbros. The terrain is rocky and tiring.One has to walk about 2,5 hours uphill, struggling to find balance up on small stones to reach to the other end where he/she can follow a rural road that leads to a clearing up on the mountain to an altitude of 1000-1100m (we did that during night and the sky was amazing...).
After reaching to the aforementioned spot (moving up about 45 mins ways on the road), we started going down (for another 45mins) till the starting point. To the crossroad right after the clearing one must chose the road in the middle that moves downhill.
Take a lot of water with you and... wear sunscreen!

Le sentier débute à côté d'un coin de la route, à environ 2 km après l'entrée de la gorge.
Il faut marcher environ 20 à 30 minutes pour atteindre la piste Imbros Gorge, qui est l'une des plus belles gorges en Crète (et vraiment facile à traverser).
Il est l'ombre le long du chemin et le paysage est un changement constant.
Nous avons fait environ 2 heures pour marcher dans les (presque) 7 kms jusqu'à la sortie (autre entrée) de la gorge.
A ce stade, on peut trouver des locaux qui fournissent un service de taxi (pour ceux d'entre vous qui ne veulent pas retourner soit à partir de la gorge Sfakiano ou suivre le même chemin de retour vers le point de départ à pied). Nous avons marché jusqu'à ce que nous atteignons la route, a traversé le village de Komitades (il y a beaucoup de tavernes ouvertes pendant l'été} et ensuite faire un virage à gauche de la route qui va à l'église de Panagia Thimiani. Après un certain temps nous avons quitté la route rurale pour faire un tourner à droite se déplaçant au sud-ouest de la plage Filaki (Filaki signifie petit baiser en grec). Ceci est une plage tranquille nudiste avec fond de la mer vraiment intéressant ... lunettes nécessaires! Il y a une douche et un petit magasin qui fournit les bases.
Nous nous sommes arrêtés pendant deux heures, puis a pris le chemin du retour, en suivant la route de campagne jusqu'à ce que nous sommes arrivés à une usine de ciment. Il y a un pont sur la gauche, nous avons traversé et entrés dans la gorge Sfakiano. Celui-ci est plus grande mais moins intéressant que Imbros. Le terrain est rocailleux et tiring.One doit marcher environ 2,5 heures en montée, la difficulté à trouver un équilibre sur de petites pierres pour atteindre à l'autre extrémité où il / elle peut suivre un chemin rural qui mène à une clairière sur la montagne à une altitude de 1000-1100m (nous l'avons fait pendant la nuit et le ciel était incroyable ...).
Après avoir atteint à l'endroit précité (déplacement jusqu'à environ 45 mins façons sur la route), nous avons commencé à aller vers le bas (pour un autre 45min) jusqu'à ce que le point de départ. Pour le carrefour juste après la clairière un must a choisi la route au milieu qui se déplace en descente.
Prenez beaucoup d'eau avec vous et ... porter un écran solaire!

El sendero comienza junto a una esquina de la calle, a unos 2 km después de la entrada de la garganta.
Uno tiene que caminar unos 20 a 30 minutos para cubrir el rastro Imbros Gorge, que es una de las más bellas gargantas en Creta (y realmente fácil de cruzar).
Hay sombra en el camino y el paisaje es un cambio constante.
Hicimos unas 2 horas para caminar por los (casi) 7 kms hasta la salida (otra entrada) de la garganta.
En este punto se pueden encontrar locales que ofrecen servicio de taxi (para aquellos de ustedes que no quieren volver ya sea desde Sfakiano garganta o seguir el mismo camino de regreso al punto de partida por el pie). Caminamos hasta llegar a la carretera, cruzó el pueblo de Komitades (hay muchas tabernas abierto durante el verano} y luego hacer un giro a la izquierda de la carretera que va a la iglesia de Panagia Thimiani. Después de un tiempo dejamos la carretera rural a hacer una gire a la derecha en movimiento al suroeste de la playa Filaki (Filaki significa pequeño beso en griego). Esta es una playa nudista tranquila con muy interesante fondo del mar ... gafas necesarias! Hay una ducha y una pequeña tienda que ofrece lo básico.
Nos detuvimos allí durante dos horas y luego tomamos el camino de vuelta, siguiendo el camino rural hasta que llegamos a una fábrica de cemento. Hay un puente a la izquierda, lo cruzamos y entramos Sfakiano garganta. Éste es más grande pero menos interesante que Imbros. El terreno es rocoso y tiring.One tiene que caminar unos 2,5 horas cuesta arriba, luchando por encontrar un equilibrio para arriba en piedras pequeñas para llegar al otro extremo, donde él / ella puede seguir un camino rural que conduce a un claro en la montaña a una altitud de 1000-1100m (hicimos que durante la noche y el cielo era increíble ...).
Después de llegar al lugar antes mencionado (que se mueve hacia arriba unos 45 minutos maneras en el camino), empezamos a ir hacia abajo (durante otros 45 minutos) hasta el punto de partida. Para el cruce justo después de la limpieza de uno debe eligió el camino en el medio que se mueve hacia abajo.
Tome mucha agua con usted y usar protector solar ...!
