Itinerary description

I was hiking from the trailhead of the Enola trail near Quarryville at exactly sunrise, 6:52AM. I had 4.6 miles to hike west and didn’t want to carry an extra jacket thinking it would become a warm day. Stupid mistake. Frost was covering everything. I finally warmed up hiking into the warm sun after about 9:30AM. I got back to the car at 10:30 and stocked up and headed east on the trail. As soon as I crossed into Eden Township, leaving Providence Township, the trail became unimproved but mown grass. In fact the mower tractor was just finishing as I approached. But the footing was typical big railroad bed gravel. Few bikes use this because of that rugged surface. I hiked east for 3.3 miles, reaching my intended destination and preferred route to hike to Oxford, the place where Pumping Station Road passes under the railroad bed in an old masonry culvert/tunnel. I thought I’d have to bushwhack down to the road so was amazed to find an Eden Township gated access road and small parking area there. Parking!

Good gravel running and biking trail. Could be sun exposed during middle of the day. Very flat.
