Itinerary description
Decent breakfast at 7.30am.
TRACK
Exit Antolin to the right, follow very nice foot walk along water, which has a few places to eat, playground, etc., until almost the end and go up the blue stairs on your right. Once you reach the top, turn left and follow the arrows.
This track will take you to N-550 and after 100mts or so, it is joined by the pilgrims coming from the other side, where there is a woman selling 1euro shells and stampig book for a donation.
Just before you get to Capilla de Santa Marta, there is a supermarket and bar on the right.
After 200mts there are 2 bollards. To the left, you go into shaded woods along the beautiful river. If going straight it´s along the road and in the sun.
Very good walk with just a few moderate slopes, going through the woods first and then really flat.
The Camino is marked all way through and ends at Fuente De Los Niños near hotel.
ACCOMMODATION
Hotel Rias Bajas, nice room and dinner at 8pm.
HIGHLIGHTS
Ponte de Ponte Sampaio - Built almost certainly on an ancient Roman foundation, the bridge has 144 m long, ten pointed and semicircular eyes. The first references of this bridge date from the X-XI centuries. The Battle of Ponte de Sampaio took place between 7–9 June 1809 during the Peninsular War. The Spanish forces defeated the French ones, forced to retreat and the French offensive to re-capture the cities of Vigo and Pontevedra was a failure. The battle marked the final evacuation of Galicia by the French army and the creation of a new front.
Pontevedra - Is the second city in Galicia for its rich heritage, only after Santiago de Compostela.River opposite margin to hotel is not worthwhile to see as very grayish.
