Itinerary description
The ascent of Carihuairazo is the best of Ecuador's volcanoes to get started in high mountain, and it is guided, you can not do it on your own.
The first day is simple, it is for acclimatization. You do a one hour hike and they explain you glacier trekking techniques that will be useful the next day.
The second day the difficulty is medium-high. You start early in the morning because it is safer and after about 3 hours you reach the Carihuairazo glacier. From there the route continues to the summit which is 5,000 meters above sea level. The return route is the descent to the refuge and from there, you return to Riobamba by private transport.
