Itinerary description
The tour starts at the sportsfield of the new Canale Monterano, where one can find comfortable parking. From there, a quiet country road, partially paved, gets us after about 3 km to the impressive ruins of Canale Monterano, the historical site. Worth exploring every corner, but a guide, either in book form or else would be adviseable.
From the plateau of the ruins, a narrow path leads down into the valley, where a strong sulfur smell is present, one small little geyser is still active. A nearby waterfall is a dusappointment: stagnant water, sulfur colored, rots at the bottom of a deep valley between rocks, water trickles, at best.
Back for approx. 2 km to the car.
