Itinerary description

DESCRIPTION OF DAY GAME TRAIL
After reporting to Reception, park your car and please leave your contact detail. Inform us timeously about the trail you plan to hike and proceed to Trailhead #4 near a curved wall close to Reception.
Follow the Kudu hoofprint East. After about 125m the trail turns to the right (South).
You are now moving to higher ground. Walking gets slightly tougher, but do not despair, you are almost on the higher flat area with views that go on forever. After about 750m hiking on a ridge you are almost on top of the plateau. The klofies on either side of the trail disappear.
Look out for Bushbuck. If you are early enough you might come across a Bushpig family. Do not confuse them with our resident Warthogs. They might feel offended. Their chestnut colour mixed with grey whiskers is something you do not see very often and will not notice at night.
You are now in a more wooded area and after about 300m you are walking West on top of the plateau. You are bound to see Wildebeest and Eland here. After about 600m the trail veers suddenly to the left (South) and then to the North.
Be careful as you are now quite close to the game fence and might spook some animals. Game trail (clockwise) merges with Zebra trail (anti-clock). You will come to a fork with Zebra trail coming in from the right (North) and Game trail continuing straight (West). After about 600 meters Game Trail turns N/West down with an old tractor spoor.
After about 500 meter you will descent down and turn East.
After about 300 meter you will see the Kaalgat dam wall. In Summer you can go for a skinny dip and in Winter you are likely to see Kudu there sipping the last water from the dam.
After 400 meters you will see Stamvrug base camp on your right and you are bound to see Zebra, Wildebeest and Eland on the plain to your left.
You then follow the road East for about 1200 meter to where you parked your car at Reception. Drive home safely.
