Itinerary description
A very long loop ("lollipop") around the lakes in the high peaks area of the ADKs. As the day was cloudy I altered my plans to climb to Algonquin peak and instead circled the lakes (Avalanche, Colden and Arnold) and the Opalescent river bed. The trail is pretty flat but very long and boggy (hence the ratings). You'll cross water, puddles, ponds and just mud on top of tree trunks, boards, rocks and tree-roots. You'll climb a few short ladders and scrumble a few boulders but nothing tough or scarry. The entire walk is inside a magnificent forest with ccasional folliage colors (in season). Bring waterproof clothings and shoes.
