Itinerary description

Excellent walk in and around the Stour. Parking at Arger Fen, walking down to Wissington, past the church with the dragon paintings. Crossing the Stour and walking beside it to Bures. Staying near to the Stour, crossing the railway to Lamarsh. The Lamarsh Lion does excellent beer and food.

Up the valley sides to Henny Street, where a five hundred yard detour to the left when you hit the road will take you to the picturesque and excellent Henny Swan pub.

Cross the Stour and back under the railway heading towards the television masts at Little Cornard. From there on to Assington and then the final two miles are through the stunning Arger Fen and Spouses Grove nature reserve.

Several options to shorten the walk especially if it is done in reverse, then it would be possible to return via Bures rather than take the long route via Wissington. See my Dragon walk for the route. Once you hit Dead Lane, turn right and walk for four hundred yards to the Car park.
