Itinerary description
I walked this on 2019-04-28. This is part of my 4-week China walk in 2019. That 2019 walk continues a walk I started 2018 in Wuhan. Both times I stayed in China about 1 month with a tourist visa. I hope my tracks inspire you to do your own road-walking project - on your own route or following my routes.

My plan for this day was to walk from "V"(Yellow river, km 0) just to "W"(Chengliu, km 27). I arrived there at lunch time after spending most of the morning on a very nice country road leading north. I din't see the planned hotel at Chengliu, and didn't ask nor look for the alternative ones, as I felt fit enough to continue to Jiyuan ("W1" in the name of this track). This would make next day's walk shorter, which was convenient given a predicted rise in maximum temperature from 16ºC this day to 26ºC next day.
I hadn't planned accomodation in Jiyuan and didn't know where the hotels are. It turned out that my route through Jiyuan the only not hotel I saw was at the western outskirts (km 35?), nothing more in what I believed to be the center of the town. Finally I found one walking a bit back off the route (km 39.2-40.2), but they told me as a foreigner I should go to another hotel. I connected to their Wifi, they showed me that other hotel on the map and I took some screenshots. On my way there, I passed a big and expensive looking hotel which possibly would have accepted foreigeners (km 41.7), and finally I arrived at the "Howard Johnson" hotel, which was big and expensive, too, and is situated in a new high-rise building part of town which din't meet my taste. For dinner I went down to the hotel's Chinese restaurant in the 2nd floor, but after talking with several staff members in the restaurant's reception area, I reckoned that this was not the preferred place for a single "western" person supper. They convinced me to have buffet in the Western restaurant in the first floor, which was good, very complete and varied and had a very reasonable price - I was just a bit late for some refills (photo 18h51).
At km 17.7 there was a hotel, too, as far as I remember. That place looked very motivated to boost tourism. In the planning, I had seen that hotel, but doubted if it really exists in such a small place.
