Itinerary description
Hotel to hotel it's about 17km, incloding visit of Tanggong Mausoleum and excluding 2 detours.
I walked this on 2019-04-23. This is part of my 4-week China walk in 2019. That 2019 walk continues a walk I started 2018 in Wuhan. Both times I stayed in China about 1 month with a tourist visa. I hope my tracks inspire you to do your own road-walking project - on your own route or following my routes.

Originally I had planned to walk from "Q"(Guxian) via "R"(Longmen Grottoes) and "S"(Luoyang) to "T"(Baimashi). Due to the hot weather forcast, I prefered to avoid the long "Q-R" route and made a new planning with nightstay in nearer "r"(Guixian) and from there directly to "T"(Baimashi). From Baimashi I took local busses to visit the Longmen Grottoes (and the Park of the National Flower in Luoyang). For this, in the hotel room - with Wifi as usual - I had prepared a series of map screen shots on my phone.
km 7.0. I was very close to finding the point where the planned route to Guxian branches off into a field road at some distance after a school and a bank. A very friendly elderly man asked me where I was looking for and I pointed to the bank/shool on my map. He even offered to drive me there on his electric tricycle. I denied the offer and thanked him very much. He was following and observing me while I walked back to the school. There they confirmed me in very good English that this was the school on my map screen shot. I explained that I was walking to Guxian and they directed me to a major road that branched off BEFORE the school. Given the language barrier, I didn't dare to insist in finding my planned route, so I followed their indications = km 7.6 - 10.8 including a small detour. After visiting the historical site (km 10.8-12.1), I checked if my planned route would have been viable (km 12.1-14.6, "yes") and continued toward Guxian as planned. I forgot to switch off the GPS tracking when I arrived at the hotel (km 21.3)
