To leave the capital, after the expected bundling to leave a large town, we have an extensive bike lane parallel to a state highway, where we can put fat plate without stress for more than 20 km. This at least compensates for the monotony of the landscape, which remains green, but llanito and crossing multiple industrial locations.
After Vrhnika, a strong slope of about 6 km puts us back in task, a bit tedious after many miles flattening "beyond our possibilities." We are entering the Karst, calcareous massif that gives a generic name to this type of geological formations. After some 20 km genuinely "rompepiernas" by secondary roads between forests, we start the final ramp from Slivice. It ascends along a narrow secondary road parallel to the highway and the wind in front, the profile of the previous 20 km and the fact of having rolled the initial 25 butt, is noted. We reached Postojna more tired than we initially expected and visited its spectacular grottos: one of the jewels of the Slovenian natural heritage.
