Our objective today was to leave earlier than usual to arrive at the Mauthausen concentration camp at a reasonable time.

We were about to put the tent away when it started to rain so we had no choice but to wait a little. Even so, we managed to leave earlier and it was 7:15 a.m. when we started the stage. Our breakfast, as is ritual, has been based on yogurt, banana and cookies.

Seeing the maps and the detours where Eurovelo 7 was taking us, we decided to follow a secondary road that took us out of the Czech Republic and into Austria. The road, in perfect condition and with hardly any traffic, makes a gentle and constant climb but very friendly and simple.

Then, comes an easy descent to face a slightly more challenging climb again and finish with 14km of descent without any pedaling. What a joy!!

We arrived in Linz with 75km at 11:45 in the morning. We took the opportunity to go to the supermarket and make some sandwiches, rest next to the Danube and undertake the 20km to the concentration camp.

At 2:00 p.m. we arrived, after a very straight 1.5km climb... We parked the bikes and took the information brochure. Access to the venue is free. We have been able to see the surroundings, the commemorative area of several countries (Spain held 7,000 prisoners in this camp) and, obviously, some of the "booths" where they had to do their daily work. So we have seen the bathrooms, the rooms, the shower and hygiene area, the crematoriums and the gas chamber (among others). We have also visited the museum and the military common areas. A chilling place for everything that has happened and we hope that the world learns so that nothing like this ever happens again and, also subject to our responsibility to review ourselves and act critically to generate respectful bonds between people, regardless of their origin, religion or form. of being.

It was after 5:00 p.m. when we left and we cycled 10 more km, before the rain caught us, but not before stopping by a supermarket to get our dinner (today it's lentil salad).

Now it's time to wait for the rain to pass and pray that it doesn't rain tomorrow.
