Ascent to the Vršič pass from Bovec. Always paved and on moderate-low traffic roads. This road was built by Russian prisoners during the 1st World War and is full of history. The landscapes are spectacular, and so is the climb: about 1,300 m of positive elevation gain. The 180º turns are numbered, so it's easy to see the path taken. Turn 50 is on the south side, turn 25 is at the top, and turn 1 is near Kranjska Gora on the north side. MO
