Itinerary description
Gorgeous ski mountaineering up to Gran Paradiso. We took the normal route up from the Vittorio Emmanuele hut. The ascent is easy enough. We left our skis 200 or 300 vertical meters under the summit. That last bit, roped up and with crampons, were quite strenuous. The descent was slow due to the effect of the altitude and the long hike back to the parking.
