Itinerary description

EN: Start: Hotel Mundial (Praça Martim Moniz 2, 1100-341 Lisboa) or Praça da Figueira or Praça Dom Pedro IV (Rossio).

This walk is one of a series that wants to help tourists discover the most famous and the most important tourist places in the Portuguese capital. After so many cultural visits through the old town you may just want to walk through the green areas of the city. Start with the 1300 m long and 90 m wide Avenida da Liberdade, which opens the city to modern northern neighborhoods. After the square dedicated to the Marquis of Pombal, we enter the Eduardo VII Park from the top of which we have a magnificent view that opens to the lower town surrounded by the hills of São Jorge Castle and Bairro Alto. Further north of this park is a newer one dedicated to the singer Amália Rodrigues, the highest point in the city. From here you can continue to the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum for art lovers or to the El Corte Inglés store for shopping enthusiasts. We chose to stop by the greenhouses in the northwest of Eduardo VII Park that house a multitude of exotic plants. We return to the older neighborhoods and first pass the Antiga Faculdade de Ciências which houses the natural history museum and manages the Jardim Botânico next to it. We arrive in the Jardim do Principe Real where we can admire the old cedar of Lebanon and end our visit at the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara and Largo do Carmo.
