Itinerary description
EN: Start: Hotel Mundial (Praça Martim Moniz 2, 1100-341 Lisboa) or Praça da Figueira.
This walk is one of a series that wants to help tourists discover the most famous and important places in terms of tourism in the Portuguese capital. We start with two squares due to the plans of the Marquis de Pombal: Praça da Figueira and Praça Dom Pedro IV (Rossio). We bypass the national theater Dona Maria II and continue on Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, a pedestrian street with many cinemas and traditional restaurants, among which I would mention Casa do Alentejo. From Praça dos Restauradores we go up by or with the funicular to Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara which offers a superb view over the city. Another stop and a must visit is the church of São Roque with its magnificent chapels. We leave Bairro Alto and enter the Chiado district, one of the most commercial in the city, we go down the elegant streets Rua do Carmo and Rua Garrett, to go around Elevador de Santa Justa, an elevator built in 1901. We continue on Rua Augusta, wide and elegant pedestrian street to Praça do Comércio, from where we reach the riverside beaches. We return to the place where we left through Baixa.
