Walking and Visit Braşov/Kronstadt

Situated at the foot of the Carpathians (Mount Tâmpa), the old Saxon trading capital has preserved a large number of fortifications, as well as numerous lively streets and secret passages. This walking tour aims to make you discover all these areas, some little known by tourists. The walk begins with the discovery of the pedestrian alleys under Mount Tâmpa and the numerous bastions that strengthened the walls of the fortress in this part of the city. The city wall, the Funarilor Bastion and especially the Bastion of the Weavers are remarkably well preserved. Next to the Funarilor Bastion there is also the cable car that will take you up to Tâmpa, from where the view over the city is absolutely magnificent. After the historical sports base and the German military cemetery, we enter the Şchei neighborhood where the Romanians once lived, outside the city walls. In Unirii Square there is the Church of St. Nicholas and the Museum of the First Romanian School, an extremely important place for Romanians in Transylvania. We return through the Şchei Gate to the center of the old town, visiting the synagogue and especially the Sforii Street, the narrowest street in Europe. Finally, we announce in the famous Council (Sfatului) Square, with its many objectives: the Orthodox Cathedral, the Council House, the Traders House, etc. After a tour of the square we go to the Black Church, a wonderful Gothic church. After visiting the church and passing Honterus, the great figure of the Middle Ages in Brasov, we end the tour of the defensive walls on Strada Dupa Ziduri, shaded and cool on the bank of the Graft canal. Here you have several possibilities to visit some well-preserved bastions that offer special views (Black, White, Graft) but also to visit the city's catacombs. We end the tour on St. John Street, with the church of the Franciscan monastery and Republic Street, the main pedestrian street of the city with many restaurants and shops.

Aşezată la poalele Carpaţilor (Muntele Tâmpa), vechea capitală negustorească a saşilor a conservat un număr mare de fortificaţii, precum şi numeroase străduţe animate şi pasaje secrete. Acest walking tour urmăreşte să vă facă să descoperiţi toate aceste zone, unele puţin cunoscute de turişti. Plimbarea începe cu descoperirea aleilor pietonale de sub muntele Tâmpa şi numeroasele bastioane ce întăreau zidurile cetăţii în această parte a oraşului. Zidul cetăţii, bastionul Funarilor şi mai ales bastionul Ţesătorilor sunt remarcabil de bine păstrate. În dreptul bastionului Funarilor se găseşte şi telecabina care vă va urca pe Tâmpa, de unde priveliştea asupra oraşului este absolut magnifică. După istorica baza sportivă şi cimitirul militar german intrăm în cartierul Şchei unde altădată trăiau românii, în afara zidurilor cetăţii. În Piaţa Unirii se găseşte Biserica Sfântul Nicolae şi Muzeul Primei Şcoli Româneşti, loc extrem de important pentru românii din Transilvania. Ne întoarcem prin Poarta Şchei spre centrul oraşului vechi, vizitând sinagoga şi mai ales Strada Sforii, cea mai îngustă străduţă din Europa. În sfârşit anungem în celebra Piaţa Sfatului, cu numeroasele sale obiective: Catedrala Ortodoxă, Casa Sfatului, Casa Negustorilor, etc. După un tur prin piaţă mergem la Biserica Neagră, o minunată biserică gotică. După ce vizităm biserica şi trecem pe lângă Honterus, marea figură a Evului Mediu braşovean, încheiem turul zidurilor de apărare pe Strada După Ziduri, umbrită şi răcoroasă pe malul canalului Graft. Aici aveţi mai multe posibilităţi de vizitare a unor bastioane bine conservate ce oferă prevelişti deosebite (Negru, Alb, Graft) dar şi vizitarea catacombelor oraşului. Încheiem turul pe Strada Sf. Ioan, cu biserica mănăstirii franciscane şi strada Republicii, principala stradă pietonală a oraşului cu numeroase restaurante şi magazine.
