Once we managed to find a parking space, we went to the Capitol and entered through the visitor center until we took a seat in a projection room where we learned about the history of this Nation.
In the crypt we can see the columns that support the vaulted ceiling and in the center of the floor a star marks the beginning of several arteries in Washington DC.
The visit continued through an exhibition room and then we went up to the rotunda of the dome, a large room that symbolizes the heart of this great building begun in 1793 and inaugurated in 1800, the current dome was completed in 1863, during the war Civil between Unionists and Confederates.
Later, once strict controls were passed, we were able to sit in the guest area of the Senate and Representative Rooms.
A final walk through the western gardens and the small botanical garden with a Bartholdi fountain brought the journey to an end.
