Interesting visit to the Yazd Towers of Silence, also known as Dakhmeh-ye Zartoshtiyun.
They are two funerary towers of the Zoroastrian religion, which is still practiced in Iran. Until the 70s of the last century they were still used to leave the dead inside so that vultures and the sun could decompose them and feed on them. Currently they have lost that use (which may seem macabre to Westerners, although worms do exactly the same in our latitudes) and are a tourist site on the outskirts of this beautiful Iranian city.
We only visited one of the two towers. Below were other interesting buildings, like some cisterns.
