Itinerary description

One of the most popular fish markets in Tokyo. Visited in mid-morning of July 19, 2017. Two sections, a touristic restaurant and shop section, and a wholesale market section with auction activity. The Commercial section is best visited early, and we heard action starts as soon as 3 AM, and is over by normal office hours. We went mid morning and it was still interesting to walk around, mainly cleaning up and shipping activity at that time. The food streets-alleys are increasingly active towards lunch time, and become very crowded.

There are some interesting shops selling Japanese cooking and kitchen things, we got sesame seed paste bowls of the type used in the famous breaded pork restaurants.

Exotic seafood sashimi and many other items for take away.

Popular sushi place

We heard all restaurants are good in the area, and there is a vast selection. We opted for a simple sushi place using the conveyor belt delivery method and stool seating. Each plate design denotes the price, and the tally is done by counting up the stack of empty plates when finished.
