If you're looking for walks, you're in Japan.
The “excessive” courtesy, such a different and remarkable cuisine, the ryokans, the onsens, the lines.
Japan, the cleanest and most structured country in the world with numerous, super clean and technologically brilliant toilets. You will never have had such clean private parts.
You have to queue at a bus stop to experience Japanese rigor. Public transportation is excellent.
Urban equipment for the blind is extremely sophisticated.
They don't seem to care about water, energy, global warming and consume a lot of plastic in all forms. We wonder if in Europe, we live on the same planet as them.
There are obviously the public baths and onsens that you will miss after the trip.
If you can, you should pay for some quality hotels, ryokans and onsens to discover this amazing Japan.
We traveled with “Au fil du Japon”, a remarkable agency.
Kamakura Beautiful walk which is worth the detour.

Mount Nasu. Beautiful walk that shows the Alps.
Aizu-Wakamatsu Sazaedo which is worth it. The rest ?
Okama Crater Wait until mid May.

We stayed in this small village which otherwise is not of much interest. But it remains authentic even if all the houses have become guesthouses. As elsewhere in the region, the bottom of the houses is protected against snow with straw, panels and plastic. Snowfall is abundant. The gassho-zukuri farms are very beautiful.
It's nice because the houses are as beautiful as in the more touristy villages and there are very few people here. There is a charge for parking here if you are not staying.
