We will do a piece of the Sheffield Round Walk starting from the Sheffield Cathedral. The Sheffield Round Walk is a 24 km circuit in the southwest of the city. It starts and ends at Endcliffe Park. From here the route follows rivers - the Porter Brook and the Limb Brook; among trees in the Ecclesall, Ladies Spring, Chancet and Brincliffe Edge Woods; historic landmarks including the 16th century Shepherd's Wheel, Mayfield Alpacas, medieval Beauchief Abbey and Bishops' House; and through Graves, Meersbrook and Chelsea Parks. A map of the explanatory route is attached.
Our walk starts from the Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul, through the city center to Endcliffe Park. We walk through this park following the Porter stream. We passed Whiteley woods and Shepherd Wheel. A while later, we leave the "Round Walk" and through meadows and neighborhoods we arrive at Ecclesall Wood. We cross this forest and come out on Abbeydale Road South where Beauchif Gradens is located. We decided to return by Abbeydale Road and left the other half of the "Round Walk" for another time. A few yards away is the ABBEYDALE INDUSTRIAL HAMLET museum in a former steel manufacturing plant on the River Sheaf. The place dates back in history to at least the 13th century. It consists of a series of houses and workshops in which practically the entire production process of scythes and other steel instruments was completed, fed by the force of water. It was in operation until the 1930s.
Then we went back to our point of origin.
